School Start-up Grant Program
School Start-up Grants were designed to bridge the wealth gap and minimize the financial strain often experienced by Black educators who embark on the School Start-up Journey.
We showcase our trust in the talent of every Black Teacher Leader by giving them full discretion over the allocation of their grant funds - so they can exercise their visions and shape the reality of their schools.
In addition to financial support, we strive to provide our grantees with a robust library of resources and a Community of Practice to foster inspiration and personal growth.
So far, we have awarded more than $850,000+ to 13 microschools in the Wildflower Network.
Program Details
Eligibility Requirements
To be eligible for this grant program, schools must:

Be formally affiliated with the Wildflower Foundation.

Open your school within the United States or Puerto Rico by January 2027.

Have a signed copy of your lease or purchase agreement.

Have availability for a potential phone interview July 15- 17, 2027.

Have a proven track record of serving students furthest from opportunity.

Be registered as a 501c(3) non-profit organization with the IRS.

Submit a comprehensive Planning Album that showcases a financial plan with existing grant and loan streams.
