Invest in Leaders like Kameeka

Meet Kameeka Shirley, the founder of Blazing Stars Montessori School in Dade City, Florida. With start-up support and a Montessori credential from the Black Wildflowers Fund, Kameeka and her partner LaTania Scott brought their vision of an intentionally diverse, inclusive school to life—a place where children and educators can bring their full, authentic selves.

Our Mission

Black Wildflowers Fund exists to remove systemic barriers and empower Black educators who want to pursue leadership pathways and design innovative schools— without compromising their freedom, power, identity, or financial security.

Through this campaign, we will raise $150,000 to fund 25 Montessori credential grants for Black educators in 2025—an increase of 47% from last year! With these grants, we will empower more leaders to establish transformative, identity-affirming spaces for Black children and adults to thrive.

Testimonials from Our Montessori Credential Grantees

“Being a grantee has truly been transformative for my professional development. The fund has provided me with the financial resources to create a Wildflower School and also connected me with a community of like-minded individuals.”

“This grant has provided me with the invaluable opportunity to attend a certification program that would have been financially out of reach. It is the final, crucial step in a decade-long journey towards establishing my own school.”

“It would have been IMPOSSIBLE for me to take these courses without Black Wildflowers. It was an enormous blessing.”
